A number of people during the week have purchased copies of Vincent Butler’s stunning book ‘Sixty Photographs for Simon’ to donate, as a gesture of gratitude, to Nursing Homes and Care Centres where their loved ones are being looked after. If this is something that might interest you, copies can be purchased online from Irish Academic Press at the link below. The book costs €20 and all proceeds will be donated directly to Dundalk Simon. An Post’s supportive gesture of free postage to Nursing Homes can obviously be availed of. A wonderful early Christmas present for sure!
The book is a wonderful collection of 60 photographs taken in 25 countries in a broad geographical sweep from the Arctic to the Antarctic. Each image is accompanied by a short text which provides succinct details about it. They include stunning landscape vistas, intimate cultural vignettes, and captivating wildlife encounters.
The book will certainly be a pleasant distraction for residents in Nursing Homes and Care Centres during these extremely unsettling times of lockdown and consequent separation from family and friends. Hopefully, it will also help lift their spirits. They will be able to travel to remote corners of our planet and explore its natural and cultural wonders.
Another option is to donate €20 to our GoFundMe page, the link for which is also below. Simply include your name in the ‘Message Box’ with name and address details of the Nursing Home / Care Centre you would like the book to be gifted to and we will ensure that it is delivered there. Your name will be inscribed on the title page with a ‘Best wishes’ message so that the manager knows who has gifted the book to them.
Please share this post with friends and family. It would be a huge help to our efforts in trying to raise funds for Dundalk Simon.
