All activities in Dundalk Simon are very ‘hands-on’. They focus on dealing with immediate crisis as well as providing longer-term support to individuals with some of the most complex needs. Our staff and volunteers help people with practical and emotional support across all aspects of their lives e.g. housing, drug and/or alcohol abuse, life skills, pre/post tenancy preparation, social activities and confidence building, and mental health support. The value of this to breaking the cycle of homelessness is in terms of addressing immediate need, encouraging and enabling people to engage in a more structured way with key services, and helping them maintain a level of coping without which they may become unwell.
